About Studio 330

The goal of Studio 330 is to provide the community with the tools and expertise essential to preserving personal and community histories through digital archiving. Front Royal and Warren County’s rich history deserves to be recognized and chronicled. In addition, the studio provides the community access to a wide range of equipment and resources to explore, build, collaborate, and create.

Memory Lab

What is a Memory Lab?

A Memory Lab is a do-it-yourself station that allows patrons access to equipment for digitizing home videos, personal documents, photographs, and slides. Patrons can preserve and share media that is in danger of deterioration and as the equipment required to use it becomes harder to find. We provide the instructions and patrons can control how they digitize their materials.

Media Lab

What is a Media Lab?

The Studio 330 Media Lab is a designated space for audio/visual recording projects such as podcasting and oral histories. Patrons may use their own equipment, at the library’s discretion, or use available library equipment, such as microphones, in conjunction with their Media Lab reservation.

What is a Makerspace?

A Makerspace is an independent workspace inside the library that provides patrons with various machines, tools, and technology to explore, build, collaborate, and create.

Appointments

To make an individual appointment for Studio 330, please email studio330@samuelslibrary.net. Please note, appointment requests may take up to one business day to process. You will receive a confirmation once your appointment is scheduled.

Appointment days and times are subject to staff availability. You can find and register for all library events through our online calendar.

Patrons can schedule appointments to learn how to use the new memory lab equipment and select makerspace machines, with more machines becoming available for appointments over time. Further availability of the space, including walk-in hours, will be announced in the near future.

Walk-In Hours FAQs

What are walk-in hours?
Walk-in hours are specific times that the Studio will have staff and volunteers in the space ready to give tours, answer questions, and provide tutorials to interested patrons without the need for a specific appointment. Patrons who have already used the machines in the Studio can also use the walk-in hours to complete personal projects in the room without scheduling an appointment.
*Studio 330 is designed for patrons 13 years old and older. Minors must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Liability Limitation

Samuels Public Library will not be responsible for any damages to materials or errors in conversions, and will not be liable for any copyright infringement. Each patron assumes all responsibility for observing copyright restrictions and other laws when using equipment in the Library. The Library reserves the right to refuse any request for conversion services where the Library or any staff member feels a violation of the law may occur as a result of conversion.
Personal Items & Food and Beverages
Safety and security of personal belongings and media brought to the Lab are the responsibility of the user. Food and beverages are not allowed in Studio 330 or the Media Lab.
