Warren County StoryWalk®

The Warren County StoryWalk® located at Eastham Park is a wonderful way for children and families to enjoy nature and literature together. Each post on the trail displays a picture book page, allowing walkers to finish an entire picture book as they stroll alongside the beautiful Shenandoah River. The Warren County StoryWalk® was established in 2021 through a partnership between The Rotary Club of Front Royal, Warren County Parks & Recreation, and Samuels Public Library.

The current featured title is The Mitten by Jan Brett. When Nicki drops his white mitten in the snow, he goes on without realizing that it is missing. One by one, woodland animals find it and crawl in; first, a curious mole, then a rabbit, a badger and others, each one larger than the last. Finally, a big brown bear is followed in by a tiny brown mouse and what happens next makes for a wonderfully funny climax.
If you are interested in sponsoring a StoryWalk®, please fill out the Sponsorship Form and return it to the Samuels Library Children’s Department, or email the completed form to mashby@samuelslibrary.net.
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
